When O'Hara's first started brewing back in 1996 they were determined to recreate an authentic Dry Irish stout they way that they had been produced by previous generations long before a small number of huge global breweries had started to mass produce their stouts and the bean counters got involved. In order to do this O'Hara's researched old recipes that were used by the myriad of small local breweries that were dotted throughout Ireland at the turn of the century.
O'Hara's Dry Irish Stout is simply a masterclass in stout delivering a robust roast flavour complemented by a full-bodied and smooth mouth feel. The generous addition of Fuggle hops lends a tart bitterness to the dry espresso-like finish. This sessionable stout beer is filled with rich complex coffee aromas mingled with light liquorice notes. The combination of traditional stout hops with an extra pinch of roast barley allows us to stay true to Irish tradition, recreating a taste so often yearned for by stout drinkers.
O'Hara's Irish Red Ale is cited by the BJCP (Beer Judge Certification Programme) as the definition of what an Irish Red Ale should be and for good reason! We have found a growing number of beer drinkers in Australia who are searching for a top quality Irish Red Ale and have been delighted once they have discovered O'Hara's.
Pouring a dark ruby red colour the malt aroma is immediately present and lasting with a tiny hint of roast barley. There is an unmistakable fruity and almost herbal quality to the aroma due to the late addition of Mt. Hood hops. The smooth malt taste is balanced by a caramel sweetness and a touch of biscuit. The additional pinch of roast barley added during the brewing process lends a distinctive bite which is balanced by a crisp medium bitterness. The caramalt flavours follow all the way to the end and are complimented by a touch of bitterness from the Mt Hood Hops. Immensely satisfying.
O'Hara's Irish Pale Ale has been developing a loyal following here in Australia and is available on tap in some of Australia's best Irish pubs. A contemporary IPA which combines the balance of European IPA's with the generous dry hopping of US style IPA's.
Pours a bright copper-toned body topped with a lightly carbonated head and the aroma brings an intense and lasting array of fruit and floral notes. A light malt base with just the right mouthfeel to allow the hop character to predominate. Grapefruit-like bitterness is full and lasting and is balanced by a zesty citrus burst of aroma from two late additions of cascade hops.
